Betonepox® After 10 Years: How Does the Floor Look Like Today?

In 2014, a major reconstruction of the Church of the Holy Family in České Budějovice took place. The project was carried out based on the design by architect Josef Pleskot. As part of this transformation of the late 19th-century church, a new floor was installed, which had to meet several key requirements—it needed to aesthetically complement the original architecture, withstand heavy use, and require minimal maintenance.
  • Betonepox® After 10 Years: How Does the Floor Look Like Today?

For this project, the surface Betonepox® Soft was chosen—an epoxy coating with a finely velvety texture. Our task was its professional application and precise color adjustment to ensure that the floor naturally blended into the historic space of the church while also meeting high durability requirements.

After ten years, still without visible changes.

Churches are high-traffic spaces where floors endure significant wear. Additionally, as a historic building, the church experiences fluctuations in humidity and temperature, which can cause gradual deterioration in some materials. After ten years of use, we returned to the site to assess how Betonepox® had performed under real-life conditions.

The result? The surface has retained its original appearance and functionality, with no visible changes. We observed only a single scratch on the floor, likely caused by a heavy object being dragged across the surface—with a small stone caught underneath. Such damage would occur on any material. Otherwise, the fine texture of the coating remains intact, and the floor continues to look elegant and harmonious within the historic interior.

Proven Advantages

When selecting the material, it was crucial to find one that would last without requiring renovation after just a few years. Betonepox® proved to be an excellent choice due to its properties:

High durability – even after ten years of use, there are no visible signs of wear.

• Seamless surface – no joints mean easier maintenance and a clean appearance.

• Color stability – no changes in shade or fading over time.

• Elegant appearance – the fine texture enhances the surface’s elegance and seamlessly integrates into the historic interior.

The Church of the Holy Family project in České Budějovice is proof that epoxy coatings are not only a solution for modern interiors but can also function exceptionally well in historic spaces where aesthetics, durability, and minimal maintenance are essential.

Even after ten years of intensive use, the Betonepox® coating has proven to be the right choice—the surface remains intact without the need for repairs or major interventions, confirming its long-lasting durability even in demanding conditions.

If you are looking for a surface that will withstand many years of intensive use, Betonepox® could be the ideal solution for your project.
